“Work,” was Unai Emery’s short response when asked about his plans during the international break.
“Rest,” he added, speaking immediately after Aston Villa’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, which provided a much-needed first Premier League win of the season.
Given Emery’s obsessive tendencies and meticulous planning, the former seems more likely.
“Try to analyse everything and to prepare as best as possible for the next challenges.” There’s no shortage for Emery to consider. It may feel like the season has only just begun, but Villa have already played eight matches, and face nine games in just 29 days when club football resumes.
