Unai Emery must find solutions to two recurring Villa problems

Beaten 3-0 in Barcelona, this was a bruising night for Aston Villa - but one that felt self-inflicted.

In the end, it made for uncomfortable viewing.

A 3-0 defeat in the Nou Camp brought Aston Villa’s perfect Champions League run to a halt in spectacular fashion.

It could have been more for Barcelona, the one side that always seem to have Unai Emery sussed. They managed to double Villa’s expected goals on the night, produced eight shots on target compared to the visitors’ solitary effort and Barcelona created five big chances against the Villans’ one.

This was a birthday to forget for Emery, who got soaked on the sidelines for good measure.
