Zion Suzuki blunder a reminder of Villa's reality in season of change

Aston Villa's resurgence in recent weeks may have changed the perspective of certain fans, but it would be short-sight to forget what this campaign is all about.

After Aston Villa’s recent resurgence, the final week of October brought fresh perspective and, perhaps, a dose of reality for those believing Villa had fully shaken off their early-season struggles.

Two winless games shouldn’t drastically change the outlook, but there’s no denying the euphoria that followed the Manchester City victory has quickly dissipated.

Wednesday’s Carabao Cup defeat at Bournemouth brought into question the strength in depth of this newly assembled squad, while Saturday saw the poorest 45-minute showing since the opening weekend of the season.

Fulham may feel frustrated to head back down the M6 with just a point after a second half in which they had Villa on the ropes.
