Jackson to be rested? How Villa could line-up v Viking

Unai Emery is dealing with two fresh injuries since last week's Champions League game, with a selection crisis emerging at left-back.

Aston Villa have enjoyed a smooth transition from the Europa League to the Champions League.

Before the second round of league-phase games, they were situated third in the table, having won both of their games this season, scoring nine goals in the process.

Unai Emery will hope to extend that record on Wednesday when Norwegian champions Viking travel to Villa Park, a side that held Bayern Munich to an impressive 3-3 draw last week.

Villa shouldn’t underestimate Viking, especially given the wave of recent injuries. Not that Emery thinks that should impact his side, though. “We have enough players, no excuses, and tomorrow we’ll find solutions,” he declared ahead of the Champions League game. But clearly, the Basque coach has some big decisions to make ahead of Wednesday.
