After a protracted and, frankly head-spinning summer, Aston Villa’s transfer activity has finally come to a close.
It was a market like no other. At times, there were almost hourly updates. New names emerged on a daily basis, many of which quickly disappeared. Eventually, 10 new faces were ushered through the door, somewhat cushioning the blow of losing six club greats.
For all those setbacks, there is genuine excitement among the fanbase, an eagerness to see Unai Emery’s second Villa iteration take shape.
What exactly his first-choice line-up will look like remains unclear. He’s not short of options, at least. In fact, for most Villa supporters, simply trying to remember every member of this new-look squad is a frightening prospect.
