Aston Villa start a busy 30-day period with a home game against Brentford

The Bees provide a daunting test at Villa Park as Unai Emery's side look to build on the encouraging form shown before the international break.

Nine games in just 30 days await Aston Villa upon the resumption of club football this weekend.

With three Champions League matches in store, plus the visit of Manchester City and trips to St James’ Park and Old Trafford, Saturday’s home game against Brentford instinctively feels like a kind beginning to this condensed period of the campaign.

Yet, that would be misguided.

The Bees may lack the historical pedigree of their Premier League peers, but year after year, they continue to defy expectations. A little over 12 months ago, many tipped Brentford for relegation following a summer in which they lost Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, in addition to their long-serving manager.
