A summer trip to the seaside sounds like the perfect place to start the new Premier League season. It certainly will be if Aston Villa can once again return from Brighton with three points this weekend.
Typically, that has been the case for the Villans in recent years, with four wins from the last five at the Amex, and a solitary loss in seven Premier League meetings at the ground.
Last season, Villa completed the double over Brighton, including an emphatic 4-3 win on the south coast in December, eight months on from a 3-0 victory away over the Seagulls.
Yet the most significant of Villa’s Premier League points at Brighton may have come on their maiden top-flight visit to the Amex.
