After an inauspicious start to the new season, on Tuesday evening, this new-look Aston Villa finally showed signs of why they can be more than just a side in transition this term, but one equipped to immediately compete.
The 3-2 win over Club Brugge was far from the perfect performance, but Unai Emery will be delighted to see the attack fluidity that has been so lacking in the first three Premier League games. Villa’s forward line were sharp, varied and, most importantly, potent in Belgium. The Europa League holders created a plethora of scoring opportunities, converting three to take all the points on the opening night of Champions League action.
