Unai Emery insisted he remains ‘positive’ after Aston Villa’s goalless draw at Hull City on Saturday, but admitted the result was ‘not enough’ following the sluggish start to the campaign.
The point earned on Humberside was Villa’s first of the season after defeats against Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal, but there was frustration Emery’s side didn’t come away with the victory.
The visitors created several great chances, with Nicolas Jackson heading wide early on, Ross Barkley failing to connect properly with an effort at the edge of the box, while John McGinn’s lobbed attempt over Konstantinos Tzolakis was poorly executed. But the biggest opportunity fell in the 53rd minute to Emiliano Buendia, who fired high over the ball from George Hemmings’ excellent cut-back cross.
