The return of the Premier League was overshadowed by a monumental day of news, from an Aston Villa perspective, at least.
There has been a certain sense of trepidation ahead of the new campaign following a summer of high-profile exits, and Friday was another day dominated by updates on the exits of experienced squad members.
As we tick towards the final week of the window, there were also updates about an new arrival, and an array of potential incomings linked with Villa. Here’s the latest news round-up.
Transfers confirmed: Friday’s biggest news was the announcement of transfers for Ezri Konsa and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The former completed his £55m transfer to Arsenal, ending his seven-year stint as a Villa player, while Wan-Bissaka has moved to the West Midlands. Joining on loan from West Ham United, the deal will become permanent if certain conditions are met.
